Facebook is About to Rename WhatsApp & Instagram
Well, if we look around, we will find that almost everyone now uses WhatsApp and Instagram. WhatsApp is an instant messaging app which allows users to exchange messages. On the other hand, Instagram is an image sharing platform. Facebook bought Instagram back in 2012 and followed up with a purchase of WhatsApp in 2014. So, after buying both of the apps several years ago, Facebook has now decided to let everyone know who’s in charge. Recent reports from The Information claims that Facebook is planning to change the names of both of the apps. Instagram will be named ‘Instagram from Facebook’ and WhatsApp will be named ‘WhatsApp From Facebook’. The upcoming name changes were first reported by The Information, and Facebook itself has now confirmed it. Recently, a Facebook spokesperson said “We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook” The upcoming name changes will be seen on the Google Play Store & Apple App Store, and it will also appear inside the app. However, the names won’t change on your home screen. A few days ago, it was revealed that Facebook is also planning to merge the messaging part of its Messenger app with both WhatsApp & Instagram. So, it looks like the popular social media platform, of course, Facebook is finally planning to tighten its grip on WhatsApp and Instagram. The name changes are being made now, but you might not see them immediately. So, what do you think about the new name? Share your views with us in the comments.
